Liverpool Canal Link

It’s hard to believe that a new stretch of canal just under 1½ miles long could herald such a transformation to a city such as Liverpool.

Yet the vision and conception that is now a reality will usher in a new age for what was once one of the greatest maritime cities in the world.

Liverpool’s maritime history is perhaps better recalled as a staging point for emigrants leaving these shores yet with the birth of this engineering feet Liverpool will once again look forward to welcoming people from across the United Kingdom and beyond.

Jesse Hartley, the renown Liverpool dock engineer and responsible for most of our historic waterfront, would, I am sure, be highly satisfied with this ‘addition’ to his legacy. It is interesting to note that two of Jesse Hartley’s most notable achievements to his life and work are visible at each end of the new Canal Link 169 years after his death, namely Victoria Tower and Albert Dock.

Ellesmere Port Boat Museum

Exhibiting the largest collection of canal boats in the world, the National Boat Museum at Ellesmere Port is housed in a 200 year old complex of original canal side buildings.

This historic site truly is a national treasure that will appeal to all ages and with so much to see that one could easily return again and again.

Restoration of the buildings, locks and exhibits is a credit to all those who have participated, it is without doubt a ‘must do’ place to visit but be sure to take your camera.

From the visitors centre staff to those who work around the site I have to say a nicer bunch of people would be hard to find, they really could give many shop and supermarket staff a run for their money in politeness and friendliness – superb.

Canvas Prints and Oil Paintings

Icarus are pleased to announce a superb range of additional services.

Our photographic images have always been available in large print format yet now we are delighted to offer them as genuine, hand painted Oil Paintings. This service is undertaken exclusively for Icarus by the talented artist Warren Scott.

While we are always delighted to undertake commissions to photograph a wide range of subjects either on location or in our studio, we are pleased to accept your images to paint or print on canvas.

Canvases are available from an 8 x 10 inch right up to 48 x 72 inches making them ideal for offices and corporate reception areas.
